President of Silver Creek Development standing on the left.
The Ceremony began with the marching in of the Sooke
Pipes and Drums followed by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54
Colour Party. Members of Brailsford's family and the public took
part in the official naming ceremony at the Stone Ridge Estates
off Beaton and French Roads.
Sooke District Councillor Brenda Parkinson was instrumental
in calling for The District of Sooke to require property developers
to name a minimum of one street after a Veteran where two or more
roads are created as a result of a subdivision.
The Sooke Legion Branch 54 has honoured Sooke Veterans
from World War I, World War II and the Korean War with a Wall
of Remembrance in the Legion lounge created by David Fisher.
Sooke Pipes and Drums performed.
This is the first Sooke Veteran to have this honour,
and we hope it will be a growing trend as the area flourishes.
