75th Anniversary Banquet

On Sat. Dec 8, 2001 Branch #54 in Sooke celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion. As part of the ongoing events held during the year December 8th was the gala banquet celebrating this event. Tickets for the event were completely sold-out; if you where not one of the lucky ones to purchase a ticket in time, we hope you can get some feel of the excellent evening by browsing this Anniversary Retrospective.

Among honour guests were S.V.I. Zone Commander, Cde David Sinclair and his wife Mrs. Ann Sinclair; Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Lily Miles; Ladies Auxiliary Zone Secretary / Treasurer, Ann Armitage; Sooke Mayor, Ed Macgregor and his wife, Mrs. Linda Macgregor; Padre Reverend Joe Titus; Member of Parliament, Dr. Keith Martin; Mr. Brian Kerr, MLA, Chief Warrant Officer, G.E. von Drasek, CD; and Comrade Mike Godin.

The President's Message:

"As we gather to celebrate the 75 th birthday of Branch #54 of the Royal Canadian Legion, let us pause and reflect on our past accomplishments and what lies ahead. The need for our continuance is as great as ever. Our community would be a lesser place without the support that we provide. There are many challenges facing us today. We must get our message out and ensure that the principles that we swear to uphold when we join this great organization are honored. Let us be proud of our past, proud of our many dedicated members and diligently move forward in the pursuit of our goals. Lest we forget." - A. Stanfield, President.

The event was in the planning stage for over one year, by a dedicated team of volunteers who spent many hours to ensure the dinner gala went off without a hitch. We would like to thank everyone that made this event a memorable success!
